We make a healthy and delicious appetizer at home: Breadsticks. According to the most common belief, it was produced in the 17th century in the Turin region of Italy to cure the digestive problems of Prince Vittorio Amedeo. Grissini, which has become very popular over the years, first in France and then in all Mediterranean countries, is still widely consumed today. Here is a practical and easy recipe of grissini, which is essential for dieters, those who want something eat when starving and those who want a light dinner.

How To Make Homemade Crispy Breadsticks-Grissini?

Take the flour in a deep bowl. Add the yeast, salt, sugar and mix. Then add water and oil and begin to knead.

After mixing the ingredients, take the dough to the counter. Knead it well by pressing it with the palm of your hand for 5-6 minutes and get a soft and flexible dough.

Put the dough in a bowl with a little oil on the bottom and leave it for 1 hour.

Divide the dough into 2 equal parts.

Open the first piece with a roller in 20 cm x10 cm x1 cm and cut long strips. Roll up the strips by stretching and rolling them. Optionally, you can sprinkle sunflower seeds or sesame seeds. Place the rolls on the tray.

Perforated pans are best suited for breadsticks, but since these pans are not commonly used in homes, a regular baking sheet can be used. I placed the baking paper on the oven rack and cooked the grissini on top, the result was very good.

Open the second part in the form of a slightly wider and skinnier rectangle. Spread with the egg yolk mixed with water. Sprinkle a little chili and grate cheddar or parmesan cheese. Again cut long strips and stretch them by folding. And put them on the tray.

Bake them for 25-30 minutes on the top rack of a preheated 240 degree oven on the LOWER setting. (turning the pan after the first 15 minutes ensures all sides are evenly cooked)
